Carp anglers call it chod, the rest of us call it mud or silt!
I can remember Frank Warwick writing about a version of the chod rig years ago when he was using it on some of the silty northern meres.

I thought 'chod' was leaves etc that littered the lake bed hence the reason a 'chod rig' allows the hooklink to slide up the leader so that the boilie sits above the 'chod'?

Silt is decomposed leaves and other matter and mud is.................well, mud!

silt isvery fine decomposed bits n pieces andsediment which washes into lakes when it rains leads will sink in it easily.

mud is well its mud but it is firmer than silt and a lead should sit on it if its not to soft.

chod is leaf litter and bits of twig and decomposing plant life.
