An appeal

A mate of mine has just been told his mum has terminal cancer, and has about eight weeks left. She's a keen carp angler, and he's trying to find a water with accommodation right on the bank - she's not well enough to bivvy up.

He's asked me to find such a water, but I thought I'd throw the question open to you chaps. I really want to help him out - he's had a rough time himself recently but it's absolutely typical of him to put his mum first.

This is quite genuine. I've also emailed Mr Marsden to see if he knows anywhere but, clearly, time is of the essence.

You may find this same thread in Carp but post here, please

Any area. He's based near Peterborough, so I'll take a look at Waveney. Keep them coming, gents, if you'd be so kind.

Looks as if Waveney no longer rents the lodges - everything says they're for sale, no details of renting.

You could try the log cabin HereMark.

There are carp in there, but they don't go large. Its more a general mixed fishery. Not too far from Peterbough - South Linconshire.

Thisis its 'sister' site, but I've never visited it so can't tell you alot.

Anyone fished at the following:

Cawood Park, W. Yorks

Celtic Lakes, Ceredigion

Reepham Fishery, Norfolk

Forda, Bude

York Lakeside Lodges, York

I've had a short break at Forda, bude, with my wife and two kids. It's a lovely place and the owners seen to be very nice as well.

we stayed in an A-Frame lodge/house, very nice, the only thing I could possibly moan at, would be that the lodge was a little bit cold ( it was march though ).

The fishing, they have three lake's, one small one in front of the lodge's, which I think only had silver's in it, the other two just a little further had carp in. caught carp in both to about 8lb ish.

Hope this help's.

What aboutTHIS place in Yorkshire Mark ???

It was on here not long ago CLICKY

It says:

The fishing

The lodges are set on the shores of two former private fishing lakes (3 acres and 1.8 acres) which are well stocked with freshwater fish such as carp, bream, roach and tench. Some of the carp weigh up to 20lbs and there is a plentiful supply of small and medium sized fish. Specially constructed fishing platforms provide anglers with a unique coarse fishing experience from the front of their lodges, but these are sufficiently far apart to allow individual space and privacy.

Sorry to hear the very sad reason for this thread.

It occured to me that Whiteacres in Cornwall could be suitable last time I went there we had a lodge right on the bank of one of the lakes and it was really handyto be able to nip in and out while fishing it could be an ideal venuefor your mate's Mum's needsin the circumstances.

Butters Wood, in goxhill, north lincs.

Its not a big place, the carp dont go massive, (uppper doubles at best), but the cottage and bungaloware right by the main lake, with private pegs, (which seem to hold the best fish) and when i say right by. i mean maybe 7-10 yards to the water. beautiful little place it is.

Mark, the people in the above link do a fortnight of fishing, specifically for disabled people, called the Skylarks fortnight, I think they should be able to recommend a suitable venue for your friend.

HERE is a list of all the events they do, they have specialist nurses/staff at all their venues.

Thanks to everyone. My mate's booked his holiday at a place in Lincolnshire - I didn't think his mum would be insured to trvel overseas. It's a David Bellamy Award place with several lakes.

Thanks once again for everyone's help. It is very much appreciated
