Are chod rigs best fished over a bed offeed or are they purely fished as a stand alone, sticking out like a sore thumb, high viztype bait.

Any one here fish them regular and can offer any advice ???

Either/or Nick. The only thing I don't like to use them for is a bottom bait.

I believe the aggressive line/hook angle and short hooklength just don't lend themselves to a good hook-up to takes ratio. At the end of the day, it is a glorified helicopter rig, so if I resort to that if I want to use a bottom bait.

Apart from that, I am happy using it over any bottom aned any amount of food!

Thanks for that paraman.

Iwas thinking of a chod type approach for avenue i know that is plagued with signal crayfish.

I used to use helicopter rigs many moons ago,the Terry Eustace/gold label ones being my fav.

I`ve not long watched the new korda tackle and tips dvd and it shows you how to tie a chod rig etc.... for anyone who`s intrested.
