john macallister rig

Just been looking at the jon mac rig in one of the monthly carp mags,and really liked the look of this rig for the way you can change hooks without having to re-tie a whole new rig.

It is being shown as a pop up rig but was wondering if anybody uses it with bottom baits, and is it still as effective.

Never used the rig myself but the article does say that it should be as effective but he's never seen the point in fishing it as a bottom rig when the pop-up rig is so effective.
