How Many Blanks

Years ago we were fishing Dorsets Jurassic coast forConger from the rocks,these werethe biggest fish you couldhope to catch from the shore. My mate had a good run of fish including a 10 lb bass that picked his Mackerel bait, and then he went on the longest run of blanks I have heard of 16 trips without a fish including a trip to Portland were he lost all the tackle he had brought, never got a thing back all night,can anyone better this ?

I've heard of horror stories in the specimen angling world where people have fished large,ultra hard waters that only hold small numbers of fishfor the best part of a year to catch one big fish.

Not my cup of tea either,but on a very large water round here, I have heard a guy fished it for two years, without so much as a touch, he hassn't been back since.................I wonder why.
