just wondering what everyone personally thinks about the two. i prefer to catch commons. it also appears that alot of waters, especially commercials are stocked with mirrors that are very similar. this doesnt do much for me.

i am too picky /forum/smilies/tongue_out_smiley.gif

I think commons look far nicer than mirrors, more natural looking. Unfortunately all of my big carp have been mirrors, my biggest common only going a bit over 18lb. I would love to catch a big common one day, but I probably never will as I do not do much carp fishing these days.

Ah... but there is always an exception to the rule; a fully scaled mirror is something else

agreed, fully scaled mirrors can be stunning. i am not at all saying mirrors are not pleasant to catch.

Geoff, why dont you weigh any but commons? this seems odd to me.

i much prefer commons to look at, a much prettier fish for the photo's in my opinion, but seen a couple of extremely good looking fully scaled mirrors.

it doesn't matter much either way when it comes to the actual catching, as it's not like they fight differently or anything, and till i've seen it, i have no idea whats pulling my string
