I was sad to learn of the death of another great angler who made his name in the golden era of the 50s and 60s. Arther Oglesby was a truly great salmon and trout angler. He also loved coarse fishing especially for pike and grayling. I remember a day spent with Arthur in the company of those other great Yorkshiremen: Tag Barnes, Charles Derrick and Roy Shaw, pike fishing on the River Hull. Charles and Arthur brought along a great bucket of dace livebaits, taken from the Driffield Beck if I remember. We had a superb day's piking, taking fish to 14lbs.
Arthur Oglesby will be remembered fondly. He was also a superb photographer and writer
