I bought a TFG X shell bivvy for short sessions earlier this year, its easy to erect and just the job - however...

It is a 'pram' style frame each pole being made up of several connecting sections. Again, no problem there - until it is time to go. The joints are so hard to undo it takes me a lot of time (and strength) to unship them. After my last session my son and I had a right ol' tug-of-war to release them and I doubt I could have done it alone.

So, any tips? would treating the joints with candle wax help?

Any advice gratefully received :)

Give the male joints a coating off a candle or Joiners pencil, it's got to be worth a try, or a spray with Armourall.

Dave i got a pram style bivvy (nash extreme)
and i find if you push down on the joint and
pull at the same time it helps. When the joints
are wet you could wear rubber gloves.

Can only speak for my bivvy but I used vasaline and then I undo the middle joints first. Try not to have your hands too close together. Have one hand on a pole near the joint, and the other on the other pole but a lot further down and lever it out as you pull.
