try this http://www.dofreefishing.com/southernhampshire.html and this on the same site http://www.dofreefishing.com/southwestsouthwessex.html . I thought there was free fishing in winchester . Word of warning winchester isn't cheap.

I feel sorry for you . I'm in portsmouth sea fishing , it's got to be better than the rivers .

Not too far away (down by Eastleigh Airport) is the Itchen. Below Mansbridge (below Gaters Mill which is the bottom boundary of the Lower Itchen Fishery) is free. Trouble is, this time of year, it tends to be very weedy but still very fishable! Produces all sorts of suprises including quality roach, grayling and some rather energetic spotty travellers!
Call Southampton City Council on: 01962 713267 and ask them. There are a couple of free stretches on the Itchen Navigation and on the wierpools in the City as well.
