New to fishing

Hi i have just began fishing after a break of about fifteen years, Started fishing canal at harecastle tunnel and goldendale pool. Have not caught owt at the canal but have quite a few roach in goldendale pool with some pink maggots. Any tips on the canal side and which ground bait would be more appropriate, not using any at mo. Hi Iangers.Welcome to FM.I lived at the Harecastle Tunnell many years ago,my sister lived there fos 35 years,her husband was the Tunnell Keeper.He also was the Bailif for the Goldendale Pool.You wont have much out of the Canal,if you fish near the Tunnell,go to the first Bridge,and beyond.As though you were going towards Westport Lake.There are some nice fish along that stretch.Send me a PM.Tight Lines.
