Barbel from shallow swims

After many years of Barbel fishing i had my first taste of Barbel from shallow water last week.

Really savage bites and twenty foot of line off the baitrunner before i`d got my hand on the rod.

A totally new experience, one that i hope will be repeated soon.

Even the three hour drive home ( should have been less than an hour and a half, bloody M25, couldn`t take the smile off my face ).

Shallow Water

Great fun isn't it Ginger. The best fun I had was fishing just at the start of rapids and they go into them. Needless to say it cracked off as it came to the net.

i love fishing shallow rough water for these incredible fish the bite and the fight in shallow water is unbelivable, best part is a lot of anglers ignore these places because they can be difficult to fish,i have found a rolling bait is taken so savagely that the rod is almost ripped from my hand
