Have lived in nz since 1985 and have been coarse fishing here since 1991. Pay $110 (about 40 pounds) for a one year licence. No fee to fish any lake or river. Not the most popular sport as the local kiwis can not understand why you would want to catch something you can't eat. Anyway looking forward to exploring the site and getting a few tips from some of the people on here.

And perch fishing, you can eat those you know. I have eaten the perch in Australia.

The trout fishing is excellent according to friends as I haven't done any myself but we do have a few lakes that hold some big perch up to about 6lbs
