Fishing ****ie's stag weekend do on the River Wye at Ross.
Looks like there may be rain in the late afternoon, just in time to give us a good soaking before we pack away and head off for an evening's debauchery!

Assuming the river is still low and clear, does anyone know if I'm likely to catch chub on bread on the float?

I'm thinking I might just skip the fishing and start at 8.00 am with the debauchery!

I'm imagining the fishing is gonna be very hard going, but in reply to your question you wont go far wrong with bread for the Chub, and red maggots are always a banker IMHO.

What ever you do make sure you are at least 2 swims away from Steve Spiller as he has a fantastic ability to select a swim that is devoid of fish :OP. Seriously though I'm gonna be fishing right next to Steve as his luck has changed in the last few months and he is right on the fish judging by last time we were fishing and he caught 5 for every 1 roach I caught!

Look forward to blanking and then drowning my sorrows!

Simon

The Wye is very low and running like tap water at the moment and only a prolonged rainfall is going to alter that I'm afraid, the chances of catching fish are somewhere between zero and nothing. Getting wet internally may go some way to alleviating the boredom though ;)

Thanks for that Stealth, but I think I'll stick with the bread.
Alternatively, I may just try and get a new chest wader tan line! lol

See you other guys on the bank...

Hehehehe very good Gollum ;)

With the conditions as they are I shall be fishing for preds. One lure rod and a live rod and maybe a sneaky roach rod, just in case :D

Looking forward to a cracking weekend, whatever the fishing gods hold in store for us.

Also looking forward to giving ****y a stag weekend he'll never forget!!!

Mmmmm... best behaviour Spillers!!!

Thought I might walk the stretch first with Steve S. so I can work out where not to fish!

My bet is Mr. Lockett bags up on bread, there's a lot of chub in there.

I hope Graham W's not right; if the Wye is as dead as the Severn, we will struggle...

Still I'll be too phished to care! :w

Steve L., give Dave Harrell a call!

Great to see you all,

I really enjoyed that! A top stag weekend, despite the lack of fish and my comedy nasal injury!!:w

Why, why Wye did ****y do that table dive?
pmsl after Jim had taken him back to the B&B.

Glad you survived, but the pub's floor will never be the same again!

Not the same without the orange ankle clasp, he could have snuck out with that all-black one and no one would have known.
