Raptor T6

T6 - Wide gape and elongated beaked needle point increases hooking potential, straight eye, special bend and short shank to reduce hook pulls.

Also Drennan Super Specialist Barbel.

You might like to try a Fulling Mill Continous Bend Grub Hook. Just like a Mugga, but at 1/10th of the price (about £3.50 for 50 hooks)

I use partridge hooks (trebles) for pike fishing and they are by far the best in my opinion. If the barbel ones are as good as the pike one's it's no wonder your looking for some. I use drennan barbel hooks, nash fang, and Korda hooks for a lot of my barbel fishing and there all very good, saying that I would imagine the partridge one's will be superior.

Tried these out on friday size 12 ok it was carp not barbel but I can give you an idea.
I lost one fish but it was too big for the line and snapped the hook length on the take 4lb btw.
I then landed a 6.5 lb common that did not put up too much of a scrap with no damage to the hook .
I then landed a much bigger mirror that almost snapped my rod did not have scales big enough but would guess around 10-11 lb only just got itin the net with help and the hook just whent ping so I never saw it again.
On the whole my review of these hooks based on my limited experiance was that they were very sharp and i only lost one fish and one not hooked properly so i would say they perform slightly better than the kamasan 911 's I normally use .
BTW I was using my small 7ft old fibre glass rod from when I was a lad 18 years ago ( had not expected such large fish in the venue)it is a lucky rod I was the only one catching out of 4 people .

Sorry, but i really do not understand how you have come to the conclusion that they are slightly better than the Kamasan B911 hooks on this info.

When using the B911 hooks, do you usually lose more Fish, do you usually get more "not hooked properly" fish and are the B911 hooks not sharp enough ??

I would say that I loose more fish with the 911 's and that the 911 are also a very sharp hook that seems to stay sharp for a bit longer than other hooks I have used.

I am still happy with 911's and have just started using kamasan animals as well though these seem stronger than the 911's.

I have had and know someone else who has had 911's straighten out a bit resulting in a lost fish ,but in one case this was down to a birds nest on the reel so it was not able to give line on the clutch.

I do not know how long the QM1 's will stay sharp yet.
I am impressed enough with the QM1's to buy more in other sizes even though they are £2.99 a pack they give me confidence.

As I said it is an idea about the QM1's based on very limited experiance however i have been using 911's for ages that is the only reason I use them as my bench mark.

I still don't understand, how the hook is responsible for losing the Fish, unless you are saying that the hook has straightened out every time you have lost a fish.

I have used B911 hooks for years, infact most of the Hook Patterns i use are made by Kamasan, the reason for me using them, is they are reliable and do a great job, for me.

That was why i asked, how you can compare the two :D

I fancy the new Guru QM1 hooks; they look good in the pictures. Anyone tried them yet?

I have Mathew, I've got them in sizes 10 and 14 I think.

Used the size 14s at Clattercote last Saturday and landed a 10lb 9oz carp on them, it ended up a bit straighter than when I tied the rig but they are a relatively fine wire so overall I'm no suprised as the fish went on several little runs near the net.

I quite like them with the limited use I've given them so far.

I am not saying that the hook straightened out every time it is more likley my faul/lack of skill but I am pretty sure I would have landed more of the fish with a barbed hook ,can't think of many other reasons though the funny question mark shape of the QM1's but in the 911 material sound like a winning formular.
Don't want to make it sound like I don't like 911's I would be hard pushed to buy QM1's over 911's as you would get three times as many for the price.
However if I only need one size or a few hooks I would give QM1's a go.

Got mine in a reader offer from IYCF.
