I am fishing the Wye more than ever now but it is a big river which needs a couple of feet on to fish its best, this means heavy feeders of 4 or 5oz to hold bottom. Therein lies the problem for me at least because I don't have a rod that can throw that sort of weight comfortably.
I do have a 1.75lb tc Greys rod that I took down the local lake this morning and that managed 4oz ok but I wouldn't like to go any higher, not safely anyway. So........c'mon you Trent boys, what will do the job do you reckon and I am not prepared to pay mega bucks at my age in fact the more under £100 the better as far as I am concerned. I am nearly 73 the proud owner of about 14 rods but only one medium feeder rod to my name and to be quite frank I ain't gonna get a lot of years use out of it now am I.
I had a look at the Daiwa twilight 1.75/2.25lb twin top barbel rod which I can get for £80 and I have asked someone on here whether its up to the job, it needs to throw 5oz comfortably.
