Nah then, what are your suggestions for one of the new protective quivers? I am looking for one that will take two made up 12ft rods and a pocket for banksticks but essentially a lightweight one. Price is no problem providing its cheap (ish). :p

Hehehe! I think I'm getting a bit of a cheapskate as well, but mine is for the practical reason that I am too old to be buying anything really, make do with what I have sort of thing but hey ho! somebody has to keep the tackle dealers in business.

This is the sort of thing I was looking for but is it the ideal?

Hi Graham, don't buy without trying your rods in it. I bought a JRC one and the sizing was all wrong for my barbel rods, the reels on the rods weren't in the right place to go in the pocket, the handle lengths were all wrong. Thats about as clear as mud, try again.

The distance from the end of the butt to the reel seat is not standard. There thats better.

All of the Korum items that I have are of excellent build quality, and at decent prices too.

Why not consider the Korum 2 rod quiver and use Tip Protectors for the exposed end? When you think about it, the rod bag stays in the car and then is carried to the swim, so is "full" protection really necessary?

Second thoughts, how then could I justify my Nash-y 5 Speed full-on jobbie?

hhhmmmmmm . . . .

As my rods (barbel & carp) have made to measure handles normal rod covers will not allow for short handles. So I use a stalker type, just using bands to hold rods together with separate reel pouches. Find this lighter than padded rod sleeves. For bands I use a bit of taped up pipe lagging for tops & coloured elastic hair bands for butts.

I already have a standard light quiver but I have in the past broken a tip off a float rod when it got caught and I also have some protective sleeves as well but I quite fancy a bit more protection providing they do the job. I have heard that some of these protector quivers don't quite fit the rods which is my reason for this thread.

I've got a Chubb one that easily accomodates two piece 12 footers and I've been very happy with that...however having got a Gardiner quiver sling now I'm afraid the Chubb has been sitting in the tackle cupboard..but it is a good bit of kit and does offer excellent protection.

Graham, I purchased the above last year after I broke the tip of my Shimano specialist rod when, being too lazy one late evening to dismantle my reel and end tackle, I just broke it down into two pieces and snapped the end off putting away in the back of the car. I vowed from that moment to get a strong rod quiver and the Korum certainly fits that bill.

I have two 12 foot rods tackled up ready to go broken down into two sections including reels and they fit ok. The Korum is very rigid and there are also plenty of spaces for banksticks and even room for an umbrella.

Reading that, I sound like a salesman for the company!

I have a Drennan super specialist quiver that takes 3 padded made up rod holders (bought separately, either for match 3 piece or 12 foot 2 piece rods ,it has two side pockets and room for pole umbrella etc in main compartment .typically it is good quality from Drennan ,well balanced and light .

I have the korum total protection quiver and it is a decent holdall. You can fit two made up rods in it and carry your brolly, banksticks etc as well and even get a rod tube in it if you need to take another unmade rod with you. I also have the korum quiver which is great for walking distances but you do have to be carefull not to catch your rods on obstacles etc. Also you need some reel covers to stop your reels clashing together and possably damaging them. I bought the chub reel covers at arround 5 squid a peice.
