I was down at Broxbourne Mill yesterday at the famous Conkers stretch (where Bridge had his big haul of big chub) and it now looks weird that the lido has gone .
then I realised that with no lido theres no warm water back into the Lea /Lee I wonder if this is the end of the famous Conker stretch.

I assume money was paid to whoever for the fishing rights so now that those fishing rights have ended who pays for the upkeep of the stretch?

Don't tell me - anglers in the form of EA subscription for the benefit of boat users?!?!

I have, so far, no idea what anyone is talking about. What is the conkers?

What has Hemel got to do with this?

And Fisher's Green, what is that?

Can soemone please state clearly what is happening where and why the pictures of a tip?

Help me out, please. I'm old and confused.

Woody,

Haven't been on here for a while, but Cakeys links should help.

The rubbish dump is the old Lido (swimming pool) that is being knocked down.

The white water being build for the canoes 2012 games is well under way in Waltham Cross, just down the road from Cakey and myself.

The pictures Cakey has posted are at Broxbounre Hertfordshire along the river Lea/Lee. At one time there was going to be a lot of building work around this area for the 2012 games, but due to the land of the sites being contaminated, the sites have been moved else where.

Understand a tiny bit better now, thanks.

What significance did the Lido have before? Didn't they film a Bill there once?

Just seen that Fishers Green is on a Cemex Silver ticket and they do a over 60 concessionary. Is it worth going still?

Woody,
Word is that cemex are not going to have fishers green on their books next season, which isa bit of a pig. It's not just the river but the lakes also, had some great days fishing on these waters.

With any luck it wll go to another club that will take on new members, it is a vast area to police.

The white water for 2012 is going to be interesting, I have heard all kinds of stories about were the water is going to come from, one story is that the water will be pumped round and roumd so nothing goes to waste, interesting.
