In 1963, when I was 13, I caught grayling in the Wey at Ripley (LAA stretch) on my first visit to that river. Do they still exist in the Wey? If not, when was the last one caught?

I have only heard about Grayling being caught but not witnessed it myself, but that was a couple of years ago.
b.t.w. how would one know if one caught the last one?
Is the Wey still on the LAA ticket?

I caught a couple of Grayling the other day from the Wey but not the stretch you mentioned.

Elstead? Maybe it was there and not Ripley? It was LAA is all i'm (fairly) sure of.

You do wonder whether other than Britford, what decent waters the LAA still have?

Theres not that many in the FAS stretches but there if a free section of the Wey in Tilford behind FAS Stockbridge pond (near Golf course) that is one a chuck (nearlly anyway)

Grayling in the Wey
In the 80s my club Woking & District Angling released some into our water in Ripley "The Abbey Stream". They showed for a while and in 1985 I saw a chap catch one on a freezing february day, but they all vanished never to be seen again
