The video brought back a lot of memories from when I was in Edmonton.

Whereabouts in southern Alberta are you? Calgary, Lethbridge?

It's nearly cold enough to do some of that down my way..
How do you stop your top rings freezing up when you fish like that?

Nice bit of filming that, thanks.

We used to have a Swedish member who went ice fishing for pike and the monsters he caught just about fit through the hole and it was a bigger hole than you guys had. I can't find his posts now as we've switched systems since.

Thanks for the kind words

We are located in Calgary, but fish most of southern Alberta. On really cold days, the eyelets do freeze up unless your in a portable or hardwall shack. Just gotta clean em off once in a while. We were on a hike in lake in this video and took our 6" hand auger. We love to fish for pike and other predators in the winter as well, and we have a 10" gas auger for those days.

If anyone is interested, we have a facebook page setup for photos and video.

Cor! It makes you shiver just watching it, methinks you must be keen to go fishing there, its about three days camel ride before you get to the river carrying that drill as well, it reminds me of Roy Castles song "dedication" - cor! again.

Given the choice between ice fishing and a bonefish/redfish session from a flats boat under a semi-tropical sun. Hmm. Let me think now...

icefishing... absolutely no contest!!! It's an addiction that's impossible to describe to others!
