Fishing in South Dominican Republic?

Hi all, I`m off to south Dominican Republic in may for 2 weeks and I cant go and not drop a line in the wet stuff.Our villa is only 100yrds away from the warm carribean sea so I will be fishing as much as I can as long as I keep the missus happy. I`m going deep sea fishing for marlin, yahoo, baracuda and species of tuna. I heard that tarpon and bonefish can be caught from the shores. Has anyone had been out there and wetted a line?

I'd check that it's still on after the earthquake in Haiti.
