I've just returned from another unsuccessful Pike session on my local lake. I've put the lack of action down to the coloured water due to the high water levels. I never do any good when the water is coloured and I suspect that this is because Pike hunt predominantly by sight and therefore cannot see their prey? Fishing for other species and particularly on rivers, coloured water can actually improve sport. Is this because most fish feed by smell/feel and therefore the coloured water doesn't effect them? What are peoples experience of Carp fishing in coloured water, in lakes? Any other thoughts appreciated.
