Just been given one of these reels. Are they for sea fishing? Are they any good?

Yes they are sea fishing reels. Beach casting, the "mag" denoting the magnetic braking system for control of over-runs. Good reels.

A classic beachcasting reel. Load with 15lb line, use an shock leader and off you go! It's worth practising on a field if you've not used a mag multiplier before as they need a slightly more educated thumb than a conventional centrifugal brake reel. It's worth asking if it's been 'tuned' as you might need to thicken the oil up a bit until you get proficient.
