What is the most effective way of using pellets for catching carp up to 5lbs.

I have never intentionally fished for 5lb carp but i would have thought a single salmon pellet (8-10mm) on a rubber bait band from a size 10 hook should sort a few fish.A couple of pouchfuls round the hookbait either fishing the method,or possibly in a shalow water/area overdepth float with a shot 3" from the hook.
Hope this helps.

Try making a pellet paste by pouring a small amount of boiling water over a couple of handfull of pellets. Mould the paste round your lead to make a small method type ball. Fish a shortish hook length and incorporate your hook bait and hooklength within the method ball. I have found this to be an exelent method for small carp, that produces even in the depths of winter.
