Very good read Chris.....it's been years since i used one, this year i'm thinking about a light set up for Sunday morning river perch.....might treat myself to one......or do you think a fixed spool better for light lures?

Paul,

I tried a multiplier for my little jigging set up. but ended up going back to a little shimano fixed spool. Find it chucks a tiny (size 12/ 10) grub or worm further.

Yes gary, I agree, I think the fix spool reels are better for throwing lighter baits, or maybe I just dont know how to use a multiplyer? I do however enjoy multiplyers for heavier baits.

Good Piece Chris

hello chris ,
I found your multiplier article very interesting and made me remember when I first got into using a multiplier for lure angling. It was a right hand wind shakespere alpha what a nightmare!I was nearly put off for life also.since I have percivered with a much better reel a toothycritter in left hand wind.It was nearly instant success as I found this reel very user friendly.Since then I have switched to multies for nearly all my lure applications. The reels I have are the toothycritter, shimano bantam citica, quantum iron IR3L which is a good jerk bait reel. And ,finally until i see something else I like,a quantum accurist 2 PT which I ordered from bass pro in the states. Its tiny, but its perfect for the lighter stuff I chuck about.I can honestly rate all of the above to anyone looking into buying a multiplier for lure fishing as they were all reasonably priced.all seem to work well with braid,as i wont use anything else any more!
