I have just bought a fly rod and wondered if anyone could recomend a cheap stater reel the rod is a daiwa triforce line wieght 7/8.

Any, it's only a holder for your line.
BFR or any of the Leeda Rimfly reels are cheap and no nonsense.

Try the dragonfly concept they have disc drag & spare spools are cheap.
