Phil, avoid the coast as Dave has just said why, its fished out, a bit like Corfu. Go inland and get a local interpreter if you have or can find one and get him to ask around. Also go to the fish market with the interpreter who should be able to sort you out a trip. The white water fishing in Gujarat is superb but thats a few hundred miles north.
