Fishing at the Hall, at least when I was a member a few years ago, was by application at the Hall for a season ticket, (no day ticket).

The lake was course fishing only back then. Tench, Bream, Perch and Pike. Pike were my reason for being there.

Whilst a member, I saw some cracking Tench caught, and also some large Perch. These were mostly taken float fishing around the numerous weedbeds. Lobworm seemed to be a bait favoured by most members.

The lake is set in pleasant surroundings, and very tranquil.

Re. Thoresby Hall

Hi Robin.
There are a few trout fisheries near bye, Thoresby estate lake (A614), Salmon & trout association (Thurgarton) for example but both are strictly members only!
The nearest day ticket Trout water i know of is Colwick Country Park next to Nottingham racecourse, it'll take you about half hour/45 mins by car, it's £18.50 for 8 hours, roughly 65 acres and they also hire boats.
Here's a link to their site: Colwick Fly Fishers Club
Enjoy your stay at Thoresby Hall, very nice place, plenty to see and do in the area too!
