In Coarse Fisherman this month a company called Specialist Tackle are advertising a Cormaxx BR 30S and 25S for just ?20.

The reel has a baitrunner facility and comes with a spare spool. Anyone have any info on these reels? Are they any good etc?

They are allright.
My local sells a few.
At the end of the day they are 20 quids worth of reel.
?35 gets you a Daiwa Bite n Run which is better.

The ?20 Okuma baitrunner will take a lot of beating. Pay no attention to wingers prattling on about plastic spikes breaking off - it makes absolutely no difference to the function of the reel, which works extremely well. I was amazed at the near-perfect line lay, smooth casting etc. For some reason Okuma call a baitrunner a baitfeeder - maybe something to do with patents, perhaps...

Shimano have sole rights to the term 'Baitrunner'. Only recently another company was forced by Shimano to drop the name.

I got the 35s for 22 pounds and very happy with it I am.
Feels a hell of a lot more solid than these 'new' plastic brands. Not mentioning any names but the weeklys/monthlies keep pushing the plastic brands, sounds more like bulling up some really cheply made products to me but like I said, no names, but If you've bought one then you know what I mean
