Sweetcorn for Barbel?

has anyone tried using sweetcorn for barbel? i plan to try some on the Severn on Thursday.

Oneof the best baits you can use, i use it a lot, only trouble is if the rivers up and coloured, you could do with a bait with a bit if umpph, having said that if they are there you will catch on the corn if they are interested

Jon , if you want to know weather sweetcorn is any good for Barbel ask the original sweetcorn kid, Chris Yates. He uses it all the time and even the Bishop was landed after succombing to the yellow peril.

Hi John, my personal experience of corn is quite mixed. It can be the answer to all your fishing dreams on some rivers but, I have seen Barbel leave an area at great speed just at the sight of it on others. So the answer is try it, if it works you wont regret the move, if it doesn't then you will be the one moving. At least 20yds and pref. upstream. All the best Mark
