Joe it is a FMJ(full metal jacket) and there is not a test curve as such .It is designed to cast 3-5oz leads as far as a person with very good technique and some experience of distance casting can.It is a real specialist tool.If you need to fish at extreme range it may be what you are after however it will not cast for you and the majority of people can probably cast as far with more usual very much cheaper rods.Due to its nature you may find you cannot cast as far as with whatever rods you currently own.Have a really good look round before you part with that sort of money and try rods out if you can before parting with your hard earned.Take a reel to the shop and put it on the rod , thread the line through and see how the rod feels. If you like Century rods the NG's are more akin to what most people would call a multi distance rod.
