Why does it take so long?

when you order tackle by mail order or off the internet, to be delivered?

For example, just ordered a new carryall but it will take up to 10 days to come. There is no stock problem. All they have to do is wrap it up and post it. I could have it next day.

Perhaps its just me, but you know when you've got new kit coming and you want it for your next fihing trip!

I know what you mean however, if you got it mail order as it was a low price, you could always try taking the add into your local tackle shop and see if they would do a price match. A couple of the shops near me do that. They will come close to the advertised price, within a couple of quid, but by the time you add in P&P for the mail order firm you are often better off and, whats more, you then have the item with you straight away.

Just a thought.

a lot of the time, some of these companies dont actually hold any stock. they take an order, order the stock from the supplier they recieve it (sometimes they even get the supplier to supply direct) and post to you. thats why they are (sometimes) cheaper. no stock holding costs, sometimes they run it from home (so no overheads)
you get what you pay for

Alright cheese paste.

No offence meant but how do you know there's no stock problem?

I have purchased many many items off the net, and only experienced a couple of problems - but that has been when it is a multiple order - and out of say 6 to 8 items, there bound to be something out of stock!

A lot of sites have the option of entering customer instructions - I always state that I want know imediately if any item is out of stock! They always usually oblige!

I can only assume theres no stock problem beacause they said so, but you never really know I guess.

Harris Angling is a good example of how it should be done in my opinion. J&K Tackle in Bicester are also excellent. They delivered a rod sling next day for the normal sort of postage costs. But yeah, it is a case of you get what you pay for I suppose.

A decent company should let you know if its out of stock after you placed the order.

Off of the top of my head 4 companies who I've ordered from and I find really good are <a href=http://www.baitsdirect.com>baits direct and <a href=http://www.bivvyup.com>bivvy up</a>

<a href=http://www.fishtec.co.uk/>fishtec</a>

If they aint no good don't use them again (and tell them why you aint using them again!)

I dont always order over the web for low prices, but for ease, I work odd hours and cant always get to the shop!

Now, lets click submit and see if them links work..
