BRANCH MEETING -KINGS COLLEGE LONDON, STRAND CAMPUS

ACHIEVING A SUSTAINABLE OUTCOME FOR THE EEL
THURSDAY 4th MARCH 2010 - 7.30pm

Andrew Kerr, chair of the Sustainable Eel Group joins us to talk about his group, why it was formed, its aims and the challenges that surround the whole project. The Sustainable Eel Group aims to be the respected partnership that enables and promotes the joined up conservation and management of the eel in the UK and Europe, linking all interests in an open and effective process. The group aims to promote healthy eel populations, distributed throughout their natural range fulfilling their role in the aquatic environment and capable of supporting sustainable exploitation for the benefit of local economies.

Andrew Kerr's background is in management consultancy where he specialises in the development of people. He is a champion of practical conservation and is a past Chairman of the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and the South West Wildlife Trust. He believes that the Sustainable Eel Group can make a difference for the eel and that the sometimes competing interests of conservation, the commercial and the community can be successfully reconciled.

The lecture will be held in the Pyramid Room, Department of Geography,

King's Building, King's College London, Strand WC2R 2LS (see map overleaf). Enter the main entrance to Kings on the Strand, pass through the reception area and on into the King's (main building) – go along the main corridor past the Great Hall to the lifts, which are on the left.
