Pole Float Weigtings

Am getting into Pole Fishing after being able to purchase one with some spare Insurance Money (perhaps they did do me a favour after all......!!). Anyway, I'm fine when a float says that it takes 4x8 or 4x10 but then I get completely fazed by 4x14 or 4x16. Asked one of the guys in a local tackle shop and he said that 4x16 equates to half a gram or 7x8 and 2x12 !!!!

Does anyone possess a simple table that has weight equivalents of standard float notation i.e. 4x16 = 0.5g or 7x8 and 2x12.

If the floats just had a weight on them like 0.75g I would be fine.

Any help gratefully received.

Not sure about this Adrian but I think the sizes you quote refer to "Stil"??(not sure of the spelling) weights. I had a conversion table in a mag a couple of years back, I'll have a root about and see if I can find it. If not I think there's one taped to the desk in a local tackle dealers, I'll post it when I get a chance to get over and copy it.
