I have just joined a fishing club, i fished one of the ponds yesterday (16th), and as the season has just began i expected for the fish to be hungry! They didn't seem to be feeding, am i too impatient or should i try specific tactics??? PLEASE CAN SOMEONE ADVISE ME?

if its a "proper" lake, as opposed to a heavily stocked pond, the fish dont need anglers bait so wont be any hungrier than any other time of the season. its probably more to do with the weather - yesterday i had about 30 fish (carp between 15 and uppers 20's) swimming around my swim but refused everything i tried - even maggots. i think a lot of fish might be trying to have another go at spawning. if you can fish into the evening or very early morning it might be worth a try.

Thanks for that i'll give it a try at night and the mornings!
By the way it is a pond stocked with carp up to around 8lb, i had a 4 pounder 2 weeks ago! Perch are in it but not tryed fishing for them yet.
