Hi,

Im a looking to purchase a marker & spod rod to bait up for carp, tench & bream but Im on a tight budget!

I already have a spare 2.5ib carp rod- will this do for the marker or do i need to buy a specific rod?

how about spod rods?? the chub & shimnao hyperloop (3Ib) look ok and are fairly cheap.

recommendations & advice welcome.

cheers

I am in a similar position. What about reels as well?

How budget do you want to go? a cheap (?15-?20)beachcaster chucks a spod a long way!Its what I still use and what everyone used before dedicated spod rods were marketed.Plenty of cheap fixed spool sea reels out there to.Bigger the spool the better.

I bought a set of giant spod rods 12'6" 4lb for ?100 (discontinued) I also use them for river carping in france and for cat fishing. look on the sites selling s/hand tackle jrc do one for around ?60 But for absolute budget cheap beach casters take some beating as for reels look for one with a fast retrieve i use aerlex 6000xs but i find they are a bit slow. Marker rods I think are a bit of a con just use your normal rods and clip up then tie rig on. for the mini pocket rockets any rod of 2.5 tc is fine. It depends on how much of a tackle tart one is on what you spend
