My commiserations to the family of Albert Marshall.

It is always very sad when anyone dies in the pursuit of our sport.

The incident shows how important a proper life-jacket is, not only for sea anglers but coarse anglers as well. How many of us could keep afloat in a swollen winter river for example.

Very sad as Nigel and Peter say. There was also the sad death of Paul Fickling, who drowned in the River Lugg on the Chub Study Group AGM last March. Whatever interests we have there will be the occasional fatality. I can remember somebody collapsing at a darts match several years ago. He was taken away in an ambulance. After the match the hospital phoned the pub to say he had died from a heart attack. There have also been fatalities at football and rugby matches in the past.
