Unfortunately, due to a bad ticker, I can no longer fish in the very cold as it could prove fatal. Reading your article Kevin brings back memories of those wintry days when river fishing is at its best. I'm not a pike man but your description applies to chub and roach fishing, this also is at its best in winter and your article brought back some lovely memories, thanks

I can remember reading an article in David Hall's Coarse Fisherman (i think) by Barrie Rickards, in which there was a photo of a winter river.
Underneath the photo it said something like "Theres no better site than a dark winding river running through a snow covered landscape".
Could'nt agree more, Nice article Kevin, can't wait till the first frosts.
