If you want an illustration of what happens to a Labour Minister when they don't follow the line take a look at Kate Hoey. She was a shooter herself and she publicly stated that the Government's attitude to shooting, especially the ban on pistols, was absurd. As soon as she became vocal in these views and people started to listen it was demotion straight to the backbenches. It needs a brave and principled MP to take a stand, and the consequences, and I'm not sure we've got ourselves too many of them.
