What a brilliant bit of angling....NOT.This is the sort of irresponsible crap that drags carp anglers down.Where was this published Roto? as I would love to know.

Call me a cynic but I think this is b@ll@cks.
Several hundred bream???????????? how long would it take to catch that many.
Assume 300 leads at 4.5oz each, that equates to over 80lb of lead.
Who would carry 80lb of lead with them to the bankside.
Yes I know you probably would Roto and maybe Wol but would anybody sane carry 80lb of lead.

dave, the bloke involved (damian clarke from korda) did say that the writer of the article did use a "bit" of artistic licence when he said "hundreds" (roto did say substitue "hundreds" for "lots"). theres a reply to it on the rmc+fw forums (sorry graham) where they talk about the snaggy swim, fish care, etc, but frankly it was b*ll*x. just smacks of commercialism. you cant blame the newbie, if you were new to the sport and an "expert" tells you its the right way of doing it (and it does sound like the right thing to do) you'll do it.

80lb of lead? dont you mean ?80 of lead ;)

same reason i havent bought a mag for a year or so budgie.

no doubt rons going to be along soon......

Dave - just visited FW forum, couldn't be bothered to read all the 100 or so posts but I got the general idea.

Quick question - do we use safety rigs so that in the event of a break off we don't tether a fish, or is it so that we can get a fish out of weed without the lead snagging.

If the answer is the first part then surely it's not beyond the realms of possibility to fasten a run ring to the eye of the lead with a loop of line, then if the lead snags it will pull free from the clip and act as a free running rig, also if the line breaks it will pull free altogether.

If the answer is the second part then there is an interesting viewpoint on FW about fishing for carp in heavy weed.

BTW I saw Roto's comment about 'for hundreds read a few' but for the sake of argument I ignored it.

PS I wasn't having a pop at Roto or Wol for that matter, they just strike me as being the sort of characters that would have a tackle box that would cover every eventuallity.
