Wow, very nice Dave. A really big seargent. Fantastic looking fish aren't they?
I think Bernard Venables called them the totem fish.

Thanks guys, I am taking Mark Wintle with me on Sunday for another try at the perch. No doubt he will let you know how we get on in Wintle's World of Angling.

Very, very nice fish Dave. Bernard Venables did indeed call them a "Token" fish in that he meant they sum sum up everything there is about fishing.
I remember some big perch coming out of the Grand Union at Stoke Hammond in the late fifties. Fantastic fish of 2lb + every time. Then we had to go back to our park lake where they were barely 2 ozs, but still good fun.

Congratulations Dave. But is it allowed in the circles in which you move. Or is just fish with whiskers that a certain gent does not approve of.

John, I am sure he won't mind. After all he fishes for roach as well as chub and perch are just as nice. I think it is only b****l and c**p he dislikes. I just don't tell him when I fish for these.
