Nice article Mark. At this time of the year I start to get my roach head on.

I think I will try for a few on the Don

I enjoyed this one Mark, thanks.

Hopefully the Avon will get some much needed rain (and colour) and we can get the long rods out after those lovely roach.

I have found that when fishing on the drop if you undercook the hemp for the hook so that the seed has not split but it does open when you squeeze it top and bottom .
Then you will get a few really fast bites but the seed doesn't fall off you then get a lovely confident bite a bit further down the swim.
to put the seed on the hook simply squeeze it at the top and bottom so that it opens and then slip it onto the back of the shank.
when you let go it will close and grip the hook.
I use a 20 fine wire hook and leave the bend sticking out of the bait where the white kernel would normally be.
