I just watched this Carp Show on Tele and this bloke was showing someone new to Carping what he needed to buy.

IT DROVE ME MAD.

He said you MUST always use a bolt rig,

You MUST use Kryston Snakebite braid,

You MUST only ever use expensive leads like Korda ones,

You can NEVER hook a bait around the hook and MUST always use a hair or stiff rig.

Grrrrr, can somebody explain why Carpers overlook standard running rigs and "old fashioned" hooking patterns.

On these overfished waters I bet you'd catch more on a standard running rig that hadn't been used for years....?

Hey Wayne - I watched that as well, but it was a 3 minute slot on the programme and there is only so much they can cram in, in fact the pace of the show left me breathless.
In fairness to the guy showing the rigs he was only showing how to get started and he did also say buy readymade rigs and then copy them and then alter them to suit yourself as you become more experienced.
But I take your point there is more than one way to catch fish.
