There's a difference between the best carper and the most successful.
The most successful could be Terry Hearn, or even Andy Little (there's a thought) but the best is probably Kevin Maddocks or Rod Hutchinson.
Adaptable, ground breaking, inventive and a few other adjectives besides.

Oscar, I think you`ll find Kevin didnt actually invent the hair rig, although the hair rig method as attributed to carp fishing was developed (allegely)by Lenny Middleton and Kevin Maddocks. I think though you will find its usage in other forms of angling prior to that. kevin was however an excellent innovator and contributed significantly towards modern carp angling.
