Hi Guys,
New here and have only just got back into fishing after a 15 year lay off, usual story marriage and kids...lol, well I am back and have been fishing a few of my old haunts on the ouse. One thing though,I am a bit out of touch with, is the technology side and need some advice please. I need a new fixed spool reel, so what would you recommend? Fish on the stretches I fish go from 6 to 101b and I have heard they go even bigger now.
Thanks in advance
Phil

something like a 5010 bait runner will do the job, lots of people make different versions of them, shimano, daiwa, okuma.

You don’t say the price range you are looking at Phil? Shimano’s tend to be top whack but good ?80 –120ish Okuma baitrunners I rate, and can be bought for between ?29 – 60.
For my barbel fishing I prefer any in the 40 range, Interceptor, Epix or one called Metaloyed (spelling?) the 50 range are slightly bigger spools with a larger line capacity.
