I have just read Mark Wintle's excelent tale about the alusive two pound roach of yesteryear, very good it was too.
I am originally from Perth in Scotland and as a youngster in the late 60s I remember people catching roach from the harbour wall in the city when we were trout fishing, these roach were just thrown on the bank and treated as vermin,I also seem to remember these were big fish, probably over the two pounds, I dont know if I am right or if time has jaded my memory, maybe if there are some other scottish fishermen or women who fished the harbour wall on the river Tay at perth reading this they can confirm my memories.
