So what is the best hook on the market?
What is the strongest hook on the market?
And what is your favourite hook on the market? (and why)

i use 3, kamasan b175, nash fang (there is a trout hook (buzzer/emerger) that looks exactly the same, but i'm buggered if i can still find them!) and the fox bent ones. so one of those 3!

strongest must be that (partridge?) catfish one?

for me ESP raptors (for pop ups on stiff rig), ESP G4's (general use) and once again Kamasan b175 (again for general use)

I generally use nash hooks but i rate the owner hooks as the strongest, like using nash fangs for hair rigs and stuff!

strongest hook on the market must be a mustad viking in about an 8/0 if you cant catch a fish on it you can always use it to anchor your boat.
for a general all round hook then it's got to be the drennan superspecialist.
i've never found a carp hook i am completely happy with.

i have some success with carp r us hooks.the nailer with the downturned eye seems pretty adequate at flipping over on your hand as per carp's mouth.

The shortshank nailer's a good hook but does still tend to wind right in as per Fox series 5 / longshank nailer so it probably isn't the best when faced with a load of weed to get the fish through.

Nash Fang / modified Drennan Boilie for most fishing I do. Drennan Specialist and B175 for open water, lighter line and floater applications.

I've also played around with various sedge type patterns (Drennan and Kamasan) which are great for lighter work and tench/bream.

For all round big fish "hoiking" you can't beat either Drennan Continental Boilie hooks or Big T Raptors.

Sorry Tony, they aint no good mate, they aint expensive enough! Unless they are over three quid for ten and have a picture of a carp on the front then they are definitely no good at all. Right Ron?

the superspecialist are one of my favourite hooks, you've got to go a long way to beat em.

I agree, Stuff expensive hooks, Drennan's are the real workhorses!

Drennans are good general hooks, but I would say that the shape of the Super Specialist isn't really correct for hair rigs.

I have all manner of different hooks and hook shapes in my kit and dependant on the mechanics of the rig, depends on what shape, style and strength of hook I will employ.

I'll try and list them all here later, if I can be bothered/have the time.

A bit old fashioned and I dont suppose many of you will have seen them but I still rate the Mustad Rod Hutchinson carp hook for all of my bottom fishing. And just as old fashioned the Partridge Jack Hilton Z1 for floaters. If its not broke dont fix it!

Continental Boilie hooks, tough as old boots and most importantly retain a point.I did have a flirtation with Big T's but for one the price is wrong and secondly they lose their point too readily. They are designed for one fish on hard Carp waters not a bites session after Tench Chub Bream Barbel.
For maggots casters etc Drennan Shrimp or Sedge hooks.

ok, just hooks for hair rigs for carp, not including my barbel stuff which is seperate or my cat stuff.
