You could start by joining any of the following; Newport Pagnell Angling Club Milton Keynes AC, Northampton Nene AC or Vauxhall Motors AC to name but a few.The Great Ouse near you has Barbel throughout its length.You could try legering paste baits after dark or in high water or fish a maggot feeder in clear water.You might need nearer 10lb mainline than 5lb !!
Go into Newport Pagnell and talk to the staff in the Tackle Shop they can advise you in person which is always better.
