I was asked to other day what was the best book to buy on fly fishing.
That's a tall order.
The guy told me he would mainly be fishing reservoirs and small still waters.
The books that come to my mind that I got most out of are the following:
**** Walker's Fly Fishing 1 & 2
The Trout and The Fly - Goddard and Clarke.
Persuit of Stillwater Trout - Clarke
Reservoir Fly Fishing - Church
My Way with Trout - Cove
Big Trout - Cockwill
I know that these books were written some time ago. On the case of Walker's books, they are a compilation of article that were written in several magazines over quite a few years.
What would you suggest?
Some of the more modern books I beleive are very disappointing. One such was the book on Reservoir fishing by Chris Ogbourne. All it consisted of was how to run matches and the rules relating to them. Hardly anything about tactics and flies.
