Suggested FM awards

A friend and I have a laugh occasionally at the odd phrase etc appearing in adverts and the angling press generally and in this regard I suggest two future annual awards in the categories of most patronising and silliest description.

For this year in the first category I would nominate the advertising description of "entry level" as applied to selling cheap and cheerful gear.

For silliest description I would put forward the phrase "bait application system" as featured in several carp fishing magazines.

Any others?

"Big Pit Reel"....errr..nope...a sea reel that has has been sold to a Carp angler at an inflated price!

"braid blades"...errrr...sharp scissors that cost 3 times the price in a tackle shop as they do in John Lewis's

"Fox Rigging Wire"...dont make me laugh, its cheap wire you can buy in B and Q for a pound for 50 yards!

I could go on....lol...but I will let other people have a go!

How about taking your usual advert, putting the word Barbel in front of everything and hey presto a double page spread of essential barbel gear. Barbel leads, barbel swivels, barbel nets...... all at special barbel prices.

The same could be said of so called "Specialist" rods which have TC's from 1Ib to 4Ib. OK what makes them special other than the price.
