Gary,
Any of the range of expander pellets, once prepared, or the cats and dogs products are good for fishing as hookers on the pole. The expanders are my first choice as you can easily flavour and colour them, giving you an edge over those around you.
However, I've found the cats and dogs products are not widely stocked round my way.
If I want to dash out after work for a quick session on a local lake, I have a couple of pots of Van Den Eynde Juicy pellets or PA Megabaits Pellets. They are both in smallish tubs that cost about ?3.00, but they do seem to last a while. I fish them over hard pellets. Once again, I'm not sure if these are widely available, they are where I'm from?
Mistral also do a wide range of different size hooker pellets, match, carp and beanie. I've had a lot of luck on these, especially the rosehip flavour...
If you are after pellets that you can fish on the waggler/feeder, either the mistrals or the new manic ones from Mosella. You can get tubs of hookers in a range of sizes or a slab of pellet with which you can punch out your own size of pellet. I use the meat punches avaialable from Korum.
Sorry to drag on, as you can see I've tried pretty much all available and rate the ones I've mentioned.
Your last option is the hard pellets from Antbaits. They stink like hell, come in a few flavours and two sizes. They are rock hard, but ready drilled, they have to be fished on the hair. I use these mostly for my margin fishing, when looking to catch a lot of fish in the last 1/2 hour to an hour. I've caught 13 carp on the same pellt before, so they save a lot of time.
Hope this helps, not confuses. Just try them and choose the one that works for you.
Matt
